New Thangs

So lately (aka the past two days) I’ve been switching it up a little – both workout and food wise. Nothing major, just a few new things — which I’ve been loving! I tend to purchase the same fruits and vegetables at the food store, and do pretty much the same thing at the gym–although I have definitely been trying to switch it up more often. However, picking up a few new-to-me foods won’t kill me, and discovering new muscles won’t make me cry šŸ˜‰

New Thang #1:

Jillian Michaels No More Trouble Zones!

I have a really bad perception stuck in my head that in order to get a ‘good’ workout, one must go to the gym. This ain’t so, people. It just ain’t so. Yesterday after work, I had one too many errands to run and getting to the gym just wasn’t on my priority list. So how did I fix this? With the above Jillian Michaels DVD. Holy COW! I was working so many foreign to me muscles and worked up a sweat within the first 15 minutes. I definitely felt sore today and plan to incorporate this DVD into my workouts more often!

New Thang #2:

Grapefruit!

I have heard so many amazing things about grapefruit, but was never the person who scooped one up at the grocery store. That all changed last night as I was in Trader Joes–I eyed the grapefruit for a minute (not creepy, or anything) and decided to purchase two. I brought one to work today, sliced it in half and sprinkled it with some splenda. I have to admit, I had no idea how to eat one of these things. My co-worker was kind enough to teach me how to slice the flesh away from the rind and scoop it out with a spoon. It took me way too long to discover grapefruit.

PB2 has been featured on foodie blogs for a while now and I had yet to find it. Luckily, I spotted a jar at a health food store this past weekend. I’m the type of person who can eat a couple spoon full’s of peanut butter within a minute or two, so to have the control of mixing 2 tbsp of the powder with a tbsp of water definitely keeps my portion control in check. Plus it’s yummy and half the calories!

New Thang #4:

These Trader Joes Turkey Burgers cannot do me wrong. Well, truthfully I haven’t tried one yet but I plan to tomorrow night! Have any of you had these??

  1. I struggle with the same mentality when it comes to working out. I feel like I HAVE to go to the gym. I really want to start incorporating an at home workout every now & then, just to save myself some time!

    • I honestly loved working out from home. While the gym gives me that extra boost of motivation, sometimes it’s nice to be able to get a great workout in from the comfort of your living room!

  2. my sister got the brooke burke workout dvds and said you are sweating in the first 15 min- ill let you know when i try it steph haha : )

  3. I used to hate grapefruit! I started to like it with some stevia on it, now I just eat them plain! PB2 is another staple of mine, as well!

  4. I am like you…I eat peanut butter FAR too much! I am regretting buying PB for a recipe..used 2 tbsp. and now I just eat right out of the jar! GRRRR would be much better off with PB2!
