Snooki and Lorenzo

Hi there everyone! As most of you know, I live in New York City and the company I work for gave us off for the day since we are expecting Hurricane Sandy to pummel through with tons of rain and dangerous winds. The subway system and buses have been suspended until futher notice. I was actually able to get in a workout this morning at Equinox before the weather gets really bad and now I’m just hanging around the apartment and fixing up some odds and ends. I hope that all of you on the East coast stay nice and safe inside your homes and have plenty of water/food to get you through the next few days.

Onto happier subjects, this past weekend I celebrated Halloween with a bunch of my friends. We had an absolute blast and it was so much fun to see everyone’s outfits. I’ve always really enjoyed Halloween and everything that comes with it; candy, dressing up, getting together with friends, and being silly! It’s such a fun little holiday. This year, I decided to dress up as Snooki with baby Lorenzo. My friend Eva was J-woww.The whole outfit in total cost me about $35 so I was happy with that. Not sure about you, but I don’t like spending money on things I’ll use only once!

Here’s a few pictures to give you and idea of the night:

The night went by so quickly but I was glad to spend it with all of my friends. Have a great rest of the day and again for those of you on the East coast – stay safe!

Question of the Day: Are you being anything for Halloween? What are you thinking of dressing up as?

UNREAL Candy Review

Hey all! I have a great review for you today here on StephSnacks. Being that Halloween is practically right around the corner (PS–are you planning to dress up?) I was happy to review a ‘healthier’ version of candy. Halloween kind of kicks off the Holiday season in terms of candy/sweets/junk being just about everywhere — the office, at home, at school, parties, you name it. And while we should all take some time to enjoy it — we also need to be conscious of just how much and exactly what we are eating.

Enter — UNREAL Candy. I was sent a few of their products to try and I was pretty impressed with not only the caloric/sugar stats but the taste as well.

The chocolate candy shell peanuts were so delicious. With 200 calories in a bag, 6g of protein, and 16 g of sugar, I don’t think that’s bad at all for an entire personal bag of candy. They tasted a lot like Peanut M&M’s except Peanut M&M’s have 220 calories, 22 g of sugar, and only 4g of protein.

I also really enjoyed the Chocolate Caramel Nougat. It literally tasted just like a Milky Way Bar and again the statistic were impressive. Only 170 calories per bar, seven grams of fat, and four gram of protein. There are 240 calories in a Milky Way Bar along with nine grams of fat and only two little grams of protein. That’s a pretty nice calorie slash when you’re craving a candy bar!

My favorite product, though, was the Chocolate Peanut Butter Cups since I am a mayyjaaa peanut butter lover. For two cups (of which are a pretty decent size) there are 190 calories, 11 grams of sugar, and five grams of protein. The regular Reese’s candies have 210 calories, 21 grams of sugar (whoaaa buddy) and five grams of protein.

All in all, I thought UNREAL candy was awesome. Such a good alternative vs. eating candy that is stuffed to the brim with fat and high fructose corn syrup. I crushed most of the candy up and put some on top of some froyo. Awesome idea, if I do say so myself 😉

Question of the Night: What’s your favorite candy?? I’d have to say mine is Reese’s peanut butter cups. Are you dressing up for Halloween?

A House Warming Halloween

Hi, all! It’s been a little while since I’ve been able to post but I’m back in action. After a very sad week, it was time for a bit of fun, so the Halloween party Britt and I had planned came just in time. This wasn’t any ‘ordinary’ Halloween party, as it was our first big party in the apartment as well as my sister Gillians 21st birthday.

I wanted to make this party extra special and make sure we had everything we needed for a fantastic time. Not so lucky for us, the weather yesterday was really bad — a lot of snow and wind — but a bunch of people still managed to come and have a great time. I’d say the party was a majaaa’ success. Here are a bunch of pictures I want to show you from the night:

Lots of People in a Small Space!

And the big hit of the night was the birthday cake I got for Gill! One layer of coconut cake with chocolate ganache (my favorite) and red velvet with cream cheese frosting! So delish.

I requested for the cake to be a mix of ‘Happy 21st Birthday’ and ‘Halloween’ themed and that is exactly what I got!

Amazing Details

Happy Birthday to You!

It was such a special birthday party and a wonderful Halloween/House Warming bash.

Question of the Night: What did you do/what are your plans for Halloween? What are you being? Do you have a favorite flavor of cake?

An Accomplished Weekend

Hey, all, how was your day? Monday is all done and that always feels like a mini-accomplishment, doesn’t it? Anyway, I decided to post tonight because my grandfather’s services aren’t until later this week – so I want to talk to you as much as I can. Before anything, I want to thank all of my friends, bloggie-friends, and StephSnacks readers for the outpouring of love and support during this really tough time.

Thank you, Lauren!

Let’s get to it! This past weekend, my room mate, Britt, and I, went out to Long Island to stay at her parents’ house. We went to a going away party and ran a few errands. I didn’t get to snap pictures of the party, but luckily, I was able to get some shots of the beautiful Fall weather.

Halloween Cobwebs!

Britt lives down the street from the water!

I think being near the water is the best way for me to decompress and think about things. I kind of get lost in my thoughts but everything seems clearer at the same time.. funny how that works.

Britt and I were also able to get some great deals on things for our Halloween Party this weekend. Everything in orange and black, of course!

This is Halloween, This is Halloween!

And I also managed to get myself a new pair of sneaks!

My new kicks!

Alrighty guys, I’m gonna sign off to watch my guilty pleasure–The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills–but before doing so, I want to wish my little sister Gillian the most fabulous 21st birthday in the entire world!!!

Good Night!
